Not all of the new work has focused on the interior, however. The project's siding contractor has begun to install siding on some parts of the new building. Because of this, plastic moisture barrier has been wrapped around many parts of the building's exterior, ensuring the bare structure is not exposed to moisture before the siding is in place. More windows have been installed on the southeast side of the building, where the Wisdom room will be, while several metal exterior doors have been installed in the rear of Wisdom, at the southwest corner, and at the front side exit. Cement has also been laid at the front side exit facing Dundas Rd., while granular material is being laid to form the foundation for the new parking lot. Half of the curbs in the parking lot have also been installed. These features go a long way in making the Centre feel complete.
A special thank you is due to Justin Colyn of DWL Audio-Visual, who came this week to run the building's interior phone lines, Ethernet cables, wiring for sound systems and other electronic cables through the walls before drywall is put in place. Justin did this job on time and at a very reasonable budget. These developments will make sure that St. Luke's Community Centre is up to date and ready to go when it is finished and opened.
