The framing has continued and now the roof is coming together. Most of rooms on the main floor have taken shape. The roofing structure should be completed next week. The doorway that connects the original church building and the community centre has been prepped. The support beam has been exposed and a replacement support structure is being created so that the doorway can be cut and finished once the building shell of the community centre is completed. The exterior walls should be completed next week.

We enjoyed a "topping out" ceremony this week. Now that the highest point of the new building was constructed, we celebrated this accomplishment with a lunch for all the workers and Jeff and Dan Veldstra went up on the lift to install the diocesan flag (which you can see waving from the street or the sidewalk). The lunch was the first meal to be served in the new kitchen. We have some special video of the construction process from very unique perspectives that we will share in due time.

The parking lot is almost cleared of all earth that is not needed on site and grading is almost complete. The remediation work for the original church building has been assessed and will be planned for later in the process. The last of the building concrete should be poured next week. The exterior cladding will be installed on the walls and the interior finishing on both levels of the new building will then follow. Things are moving quickly now and it is very exciting!

    Our Building Project

St. Luke's Anglican church, a landmark at Hwy #5 at Palermo, was built in 1845 by William Peacock.  Our development project will see the moving of the existing heritage Church building to a different location on the site with a brand new foundation.  A new Parish Community Centre will be connected to the church providing much needed space for new programs and community events.
The existing heritage cemetery will be preserved and on the other side of the site a retirement residence has been built.
